2016 WAS a good showing on the part of the “Mystery Pear” tree. We knew it was a pear, but the past 5 years its fruit unidentifiable as it was so discolored and underdeveloped.“TA-DA!” it said this year, “I”m a Barlett Pear tree!” About 2/3 of the fruit was edible and very useable in 10 pints of “Cran-Peary Preserves”.
Hopefully next season we’ll have discovered an organic cure to prevent fruit scarring due to fungus.
