Weather affects design…

Got the roof in before the RAIN this past week.

The compromise was to run the roofing on weak cedar lath — the plan is then to later reinforce this from the underside (for loads like snow / hail…)

In this case, it was a rush to get the roofing up — because keeping the east side of the Shop dry helps with the work we’ll do there this fall. Which includes repairing water damaged framing and installing a big sliding glass door (you can get anything on CraigsList.com.)

The 1X2 Cedar runners will eventually be understory’d by lumber to strengthen them…

But this quickly permits putting up the SunTuff … why? Weather Forecast includes rain this past weekend.  And it did!  There was 3/4″ in the gauge.
