The uncharacteristic freeze in early December 2013 ruined the entire winter crop of Meyer lemons — well over 100 of ’em. While they looked nice on the outside, the insides were dry; one can only use so much lemon zest! I did freeze a big bag full for that purpose, however. Fortunately, only extremities of the tree itself died off, thanks to David, who set up a milk-house heater to save our tree known as “Lazarus”. But that’s a whole ‘nother story!
